I’m dreaming big, doing whatever I’m interested in doing and loving how my 2010 is turning out so far! Keeping busy, making moves , and as of the latter part of 09′ , I formed a title for my “career” choice(s) =  Model-gone-Production/Personal/Creative/Event Assistant and Coordinator. I’ve dabbled in Wardrobe Styling assistance, and Photographer’s assistant jobs as well. I’ve been writing/blogging for a few different web magazines too. Just meeting great people, networking, and learning so much. Soaking it all up like a freaking sponge

I’m getting more & more clients for my PA work, modeling less, but squeeze in a casting or shoot here and there.

Only doing paid gigs or gigs that result in a tearsheet/promotion/advertising that will benefit my modeling. I am always up for test shoots to keep fresh images of my latest look, feel free to contact me if you can improve both our portfolios. I choose NOT to work with photogs who don’t put the proper “credits” on OUR images.

So its my 23rd birthday.

I guess I must be getting older, because every year, I reflect more and more about my past. And that’s what old people do. Think about the past. Talk about the past. Even live in the past.

I’ll try not to do those things. But to summarize my bottomline thought on how I feel, what I think anyway, at this point in my life, and what I’ve found out about myself…a quote from a movie -

“Anger will eat away your soul if you let it. Only when you realize, underneath Anger, is Hurt. And underneath Hurt, is actually a whole lot of Love. It may have been wasted, in vain, misplaced, but it was love from your heart when it was whole. You must keep the faith that you can bear your soul like that again. In all you do and to those who care about you. Devote your life to this, and set yourself free.”

…Oh Lord, I think I spotted a wrinkle.

The middle girl looks normal. But the other two..legs are looking a little stickly. The pressure to stay thin doesn;t go away in a model’s world. Same old story you say? Look. I’m not trying to break out the violins for us, by no means. I’m just saying.. I much rather have a client analyze my runway walk then the jiggle of my inner thighs touching and I try to strut my stuff while pretending I don’t see where their eyes are reallly looking.

But lets be real. No one is going to hire you if their clothes are too snug, whether it be due to the lack of sit ups or the latin genetics that give you a little “junk in the trunk”. But it can be as easy or as hard as you make it. For me, its just my inner thigh jiggle I need to shrink, which a combination of cutting back on bread,eating snacks that are green in color and working out the lower body consistently, will take care of. But what about those who have to literally turn their world upside down? Change their overall lifestyle, eating habits? Who can really judge who wants it more? Aren’t we all equal in each of our fight and struggles? Something to think about.

I think Kate Moss said it best: “Nothing taste as good as being skinny.”

Step 1 – Deciding my wannabe-wavy-fro-ish “do” is SO last year.

Step 2 – Getting a Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

Step 3 – Getting length, with equal shine and bounce.

Step 4 – Oh happy day. The power of PhotoShop.

I believe I could start a cult with the amount of people I know that will agree with me, and ask the same question to themselves:   Does anyone PAY talent in the Miami market anymore?

Whether its a product or a service, mama always said….you get what you pay for. And what you don’t pay for.

Rather than pouring more money into those avenues,  shouldn’t designers, and clients of all kinds consider making the investment to pay good talent, and collaborate with a team that wants to see your designs flourish and your brand grow? ” -Anonymous

These are good reasons you should consider paying models/talent that truly represent your brand, and establish your image. After all, it’s your image that separates your product or service from the Mom-and-Popp down the block.

My friend happened to see my face on a box cover for weave at a Beauty Supply store. This particular shot was when I first started modeling seriously. Its been almost 3 years since I did this shot, couldn’t believe they are still using it for their marketing. Pretty cool though…funny, I look so young and innocent. Still am

What is going on at the casting department for Victoria’s Secret man?! I’m going to dive right into this.

It doesn’t seem to me they are representing the brand “internationally”…even though they’ve always been kinda on the fence with that to begin with. But Tyra Banks was probably cringing in her chair after watching this year’s show. I’m seeing more and more blonds, less brunettes, and less QUALIFIED African-American models (with the exception of newly boarded Chanel Iman). I was in disbelief at some of them walking the runway,actually getting the PRIVELAGE of walking the Victoria’s Secret show, looking like a HOT MESS. There was nothing stand-out about them, they were just tall, and dark-skinned.I didn’t see beauty. I didn’t see what has defined a Victoria’s Secret model.I thought to myself,”Out of thousands of girls who submit and apply to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel every year, these are who they choose to represent the African American side of the brand??”  

NONE of them come CLOSE to Tyra. I would post pictures of them to see what I’m talking about, but not-shockingly, I’ve google-d and searched, unsuccessfully finding a still shot of any of them. Tyra, you need to make a phonecall girlfriend, and tell them to come to Miami to do a casting,they’ll find all the beautiful women of color they need:)

I also saw a couple of models’ faces I usually see on FashionTV (FTV)’s international runway shows. I’m not sure that was a wise move on Victoria Secret’s side. Those girls are SO stiff. You have to practically choke the personality out of them! They barely smile. That is NOT what Victoria’s Secret wants to bring on board and not the message they want to get across. Victoria’s Secret is all bubbly, sexy, cute, fun, spirited, appealing to men and women.They need to keep it that way and just reevaluate  the new faces they’re bringing on board…

Also, very pregnant Adriana Lima was absent at this years Christmas runway show but we know she’ll bounce back in less then a month like Alexandria Ambrosio. Which reminds me, Marissa Miller…beautiful in the face but the body is turning into a skeleton with muscles! No need to try so hard, cutback on the workouts Marissa, I’m scared for you

Promo modeling (95% of the time) freaking sucks.

But I pulled through and turned that frown upside down for this event last week.I entered a raffle and actually won $300 towards any laser hair removal or skin rejuvenation treatments!
